Extranando los mosquitos y la Calor!

(Missing the mosquitos and the heat!)

Hola Familia!

Weeell, it turns out that I have a change...AGAIN.  I am just getting to travel all over Perú.  What a blessing.  I will miss Puerto a lot.  Presidente came this weekend to organize a new branch.  They are looking to put a Stake soon here.  The work here is really progressing.  And so he was in Puerto and had dinner with the Hermanas and he looked at my feet and said they are still swollen and told me I would be having a change to a place more cold.  My feet are not half as bad as they were.  They were like 4 times more swollen  (haha)  but its true.  They are still swollen but the pain has gone down.  I don't know what bit me,  but I bet you it was a frreaking tarantula.....what else leaves effects in your body for 3 weeks?!
Actually, Presidente changed the entire district.   This week in Puerto was kind of crazy.  Everyone here is a gold miner and they are protesting because there is a new law here and it impedes them from working, or something like that,  so they were all protesting and it was reeeallllly crazy.  And intense.  But I am safe.  The protestors wouldn't let anyone leave Puerto for like 3  days and Presidiente locked us up in our rooms for two days because it was so violent!  One time our leaders told us we could leave for our pension and have lunch, but nothing else,  and so we left and it was the first time we saw the effects  of the protests and there were giant rocks in the streets and trash everywhere and police everywhere too.  Every once in a while we heard a gunshot in the pension because our pension is close to the center of activity. But all in all, it was all right and the Lord keeps all his missionaries safe and the Presidente keeps up with the news in the area and receives revelation for us so you all don´t need to worry.
I am just fine!!!  But the protests started again this morning and so Presidente had us leave Puerto for the reunion de cambios in an airplane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It was really cool.  The flight was only 30 minutes though.

We had a baptism this week!!  We completed teaching a family!  It was so cute!!  I am sending pictures of the baptism, of the family that cooked for us, and of the jungle from the airplane.  I learned how to sew palm leaves this week....that was cool.  It's real.  They put palm leaves on the roofs of the houses here and there is an area where all of the houses have that and it is close to the river and the people there are canoe builders and I got to see some people working on a canoe.  It was cool.  So now I know how to sew palm leaves :)   And now I won´t have to shower like 3 times a day.  We didn't have hot water here but we didn't want it so it was Ok :)

All in all, I am sad to leave Puerto.  It's paradise there and the people are so willing to listen to the gospel and are really humble.

I don´t know where I am going yet, I find out tomorrow night but I learned a lot of really good lessons this change.  Mom, I received the package with the dog whistle today! :)  Thanks so much for your letter.  It really comforted my heart.  I have been feeling a little thrown around and lost lately but your letter lifted my spirits.  I am so grateful for your continuing love and support.  And thank you Aunt Phyllis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for sending me the news about Clark.   I am so glad his visa went through and we are here together in South America for the next year!!  I loved the picture.
